Welcome!

It is so exciting to watch the little ones growing in faith--and to see us older ones growing too! In my own life, the growing edges are the exciting ones.

Wow! Lots Happening!

The Mother and Daughter mini retreat at Longs Peak UMC is back!! Moms and daughters of all ages and stages, mark your calendar for Friday evening, May 11th overnight to Saturday morning May 12th!

Lots of neat things planned from nurturing our spirit life, to our relationships, to
having some good old fashion fun together.   More news and registration
coming in April!

Mark your Calendars for this summer's Vacation Bible School “Son”rise National Park.  July 16th through the 20th 9:00 a.m. To 12:00 noon.  Registration and Volunteer opportunities will be posted in April!

Nursery
Do you like to hold babies and play with toddlers?  The love our little ones receive from you is one of their first experiences with knowing Jesus.  Be a part of the discipleship of a little one by volunteering your time, one hour per month, in our church nursery. All people who work with our children at Longs Peak UMC are trained in Safe Sanctuary and receive a background check. Currently we have 11 spots open throughout the month.

Easter Sunday, there will be no 9:00 a.m. Sunday school, however, we will have children's message and One Room School House in the overflow area of fellowship hall at 10:30 a.m.  Our teachers have the day off to enjoy with their families.  Easter Sunday is April 8th.

Attention Parents of Children in grades 2 through 5! Once again we will be holding our “Touch the Water and Taste the Bread” class on Saturday morning, April 21st From 10:00 a.m. To 12:00 noon. For those children and their families that would like to gain a greater understanding of what Communion and Baptism is all about.  Imagine what a deeper experience receiving Communion and witnessing a Baptism would be with greater knowledge of how the two impact our life in Christ.

Call me anytime with concerns and/or celebrations to share!

The Gospel According to Disney

I'd like to share something with you based on my summer read, by Mark I.Pinsky.  In the book, Pinsky explores the religious, moral, and theological themes in 31 of the most popular Disney films. In a nutshell, the book was written as a guide for parents who seek advice on what might be a good “fast forward” in the movies, or spots that render good conversation.

Part of that conversation can be where we might “hear” the Gospel within the story line. Pinsky makes reference to Reverend Michael Catlett, pastor of McLean Baptist Church in McLean, Virginia.  Pastor Catlett is quoted as saying, “...sometimes we hear the Gospel through sermons and worship services, and sometimes it's through children's stories contained on VHS tapes with a mouse ears logo.  I want to listen to the Gospel wherever I can find it.  Don't you?”
I want to encourage you to join me in reading and meditating on the Gospels this school year--Matthew, Mark, Luke, and
John.  E-mail me and share the places in your life--outside of
church--where you find the Gospel message!
This year, nurture your discipleship and educate your family on all of what God wants you to know and desires for you, because He loves you.  Attend worship and Sunday school regularly.  Each month through out the school year, watch for the Children and Family insert
in our newsletter.  Contact me any time with your thoughts on how to make this ministry the best it can be--FOR HIM!
Peace,
Lynda-
